Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan spoke to the press ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday.
This Sunday at 14:00 CET, the final Grand Prix of the season will take place. In Abu Dhabi, the Constructors’ Championship will be decided between Ferrari and McLaren, but further down, there is another crucial battle between Alpine and Haas. The two teams are fighting for sixth place, which is vital from an economic standpoint, with the French team holding a 5-point advantage over the American team.
In the final race, there will be a major change at Alpine with Jack Doohan replacing Esteban Ocon. The son of former MotoGP rider Mick Doohan, already confirmed for a seat in the 2025 season, will have a crucial role. For Flavio Briatore, this will also be an opportunity to assess his abilities.
Jack Doohan’s Words
The Australian driver, interviewed by the press, spoke about the upcoming Yas Marina race. Here’s what he had to say: “It’s fantastic to make my Formula 1 debut in Abu Dhabi this weekend. This circuit holds many special memories for me. I’ve raced on the Yas Marina circuit at various points in my career, and it’s also where I won my last Formula 2 race in 2023. So, I’m excited to get back on track, but this time in Formula 1. .
This weekend, as well as the post-season tests, will be an opportunity for me and the team to spend more time on track together as we prepare for the 2025 season. My goal is to support the team’s ambition to finish sixth in the Constructors’ Championship. I’m looking forward to working with them to achieve that and close the season on a positive note.” .”
Pierre Gasly’s Words
The hopes of Alpine are, of course, mainly placed on Gasly, who, thanks to his fifth place finish in Qatar, allowed the French team to overtake Haas once again. Here are his comments: “First of all, I would like to thank Esteban and wish him all the best for his future. It has been a special journey for us to be teammates at Alpine. We’ve had incredible moments, like in São Paulo, but also difficult times, but that’s how racing goes. Now I have Jack alongside me in the garage, and I’m looking forward to starting the next chapter with him. We’re heading to Abu Dhabi for the final race of the year, and the goal is to consolidate sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
The whole season has been long and demanding for the entire team, but everyone at Enstone and Viry has worked incredibly hard to transform the car from where we were in Bahrain to where we are now, constantly fighting in the top ten. The Yas Marina circuit is a track we all know very well, so we hope to hit the ground running and build our weekend progressively.
The first and second sectors are very fast, with quick corners and two long straights before the final sector, which is more like a city circuit with rapid direction changes and some walls. I want to finish the season on a high this weekend; the entire team deserves it.” .”
