F1, Toyota does not rule out a return: “We have to evaluate many things, but it would be nice to participate in the meetings.”

According to the words of General Director Masaya Kaji, Toyota is considering a possible return to F1.

Formula 1 is a sport that is constantly expanding and experiencing economic proliferation. The entry of the Cadillac team in 2026 is just the tip of an iceberg of a movement that, in recent years, has laid the foundation for extraordinary economic growth. The increasing demand for new Grand Prix and various sponsors have led the ten teams to have a value of at least one billion dollars each, something that has never happened before.

F1, Toyota does not rule out a return: “We have to evaluate many things, but it would be nice to participate in the meetings.”

In 2026, Audi will also make its debut by acquiring the shares of the already existing Sauber team, thanks to the crucial involvement of the Qatari fund. This marks a sign that the F1 market is highly attractive, and even potential returns are not ruled out. We’re talking about the prestigious Toyota brand, which returned a few months ago as a supplier of certain components for the Haas team.

The first results have already been seen, with the American team frequently making it into the top 10 in both qualifying and the race. The Japanese brand, for its part, does not want to stop at this role, and according to Masaya Kaji, the General Director, the next step will be to re-enter Formula 1 on a permanent basis.

Here are his statements on the matter: “Akio Toyoda told us that it has been 15 years since we were in F1, and that now we need to learn. I believe that, more than anything, we need to understand a bit more about the various aspects surrounding this world and then consider the next step. .

Of course, we will look at everything there is to look at. I believe that, from a technical standpoint, F1 will have a system in the coming years that will be easier to apply in other areas compared to the current one. It would be good to be able to participate in the upcoming meetings to learn more, but it’s true that, to participate, you need to be officially registered as a constructor in F1.”
