McLaren, Piastri: “It will be a four-way battle in Abu Dhabi”

During the press conference, Oscar Piastri discussed the Abu Dhabi GP and the fight with Ferrari. He also shared his thoughts on Mercedes and Red Bull’s role in the battle

Oscar Piastri appeared highly motivated during the Abu Dhabi press conference! The Australian, following another weekend where he finished behind teammate Lando Norris (before a penalty was applied), is navigating a rollercoaster of performances. While he’s delivered strong results, sometimes exceptional ones—such as his Sprint victory in Qatar—he’s also had more lackluster showings, especially after his incredible triumph in Baku.

With a pivotal race ahead in the Constructors’ Championship, McLaren will need the very best from their young star. The Woking-based team hasn’t claimed the Constructors’ title in over 20 years, the last one being in 1998, coinciding with Mika Häkkinen’s Drivers’ Championship win.

McLaren, Piastri speaks at the press conference: “It will likely be a fierce fight among the top Four teams”

Oscar remains highly energized ahead of Abu Dhabi, as confirmed by his remarks during the press conference: “We are confident because our position in terms of points advantage over Ferrari is still solid, Piastri began. However, when asked about who the favorite is for Abu Dhabi, Oscar refrained from making bold predictions:
It’s certainly going to be a very competitive weekend, likely involving the top four teams, not just us and Ferrari“.

Piastri comments on McLaren’s chances and strategy against Ferrari

Piastri concluded by stating:“This means that some of the other teams could potentially play a decisive role in the championship, so we’ll see. We’ll focus on ourselves, aim to maximize our performance, and see where we end up with the car we have”.
