General Motors has announced its Team Principal for the 2026 F1 entry: British motorsport veteran Graeme Lowdon.
This exciting news confirms that General Motors and Cadillac, set to join Formula 1 in just over a year, have selected Graeme Lowdon to lead the team as Team Principal.
Here’s what the newly appointed leader had to say: “I’m truly honored to be appointed as the Team Principal of this exciting new team, and I would like to thank everyone involved for placing their trust in me. I believe that Formula 1 is the greatest team sport in the world, and teams are all about people. This is a team with a real love for, and desire to go, racing, and we have the experience and expertise to do just that.
He continued: “Racing is at the very heart of everything that we do. This is what I want to see in a team, and I really want to be part of it. I don’t underestimate the task ahead and have the utmost respect for the competition. I look forward to the challenge of racing. In the meantime, our work continues at pace.”
Who is Graeme Lowdon?
Graeme Lowdon is a highly respected British motorsport executive with a distinguished career in Formula 1 and endurance racing. A mechanical engineering graduate with an MBA, Lowdon began his career in the automotive industry before transitioning to motorsport. He played a pivotal role in the creation of Marussia F1 (later Manor), where he served as CEO, leading the team through significant on- and off-track challenges, including well-documented financial hurdles.
After his F1 stint, Lowdon pursued opportunities in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) before marking his return to Formula 1 with today’s announcement.
