According to the American broadcaster’s report, Red Bull has informed Perez of their decision not to rely on him for 2025.
Sergio Perez‘s adventure at Red Bull has come to an end. After rumors, denials, and vague confirmations, the ESPN F1 network recently announced that the Anglo-Austrian team had informed the Mexican driver of their decision not to count on him for the upcoming season.
A decision that was made in the second half of this season, during which Perez, despite the problems and the significant decline of the car, underperformed, delivering results unworthy of his name and the team. Verstappen‘s fourth consecutive championship and the enormous points gap between the two drivers have fueled doubts among the team’s management, who are eager to focus on both titles.
Negotiations between Red Bull and Perez are ongoing, and according to renowned journalist Erik van Haren, both sides are exploring a specific solution: the Anglo-Austrian team could offer the Mexican driver a €20 million exit package, in addition to the possibility of offering him an ambassadorial role in the coming years. As for the replacement, Liam Lawson’s candidacy is gaining momentum, with Hadjar (who was in free practice this morning) expected to join Tsunoda at Racing Bulls.
