It’s now confirmed: Andretti will be powered by Ferrari. The partnership between the two teams has been officially announced, set to begin in 2026
The news had been circulating for some time, and now the much-anticipated announcement has finally arrived. Andretti Cadillac will officially use Ferrari power units from the moment of its debut in 2026. While rumors of an agreement between the two teams had surfaced before, it was Ferrari itself that made the partnership official through its social media channels just moments ago.
The announcement also included details about Ferrari supplying gearbox components to Andretti for the 2026–2027 seasons. Andretti Cadillac is set to join Formula 1 in 2026, not by taking over an existing team but by adding a new one to the grid. This will increase the number of teams and drivers, filling the gap left by Sauber, which is departing Ferrari’s engine supply. Andretti will therefore join Haas as a Ferrari-powered team.
However, Andretti’s partnership with Ferrari is not expected to last long. According to circulating reports, the American team may develop its own engine, power unit, and gearbox by 2028, eliminating the need for a supplier. For now, though, the story is as outlined in Ferrari’s official statement:
“Ferrari announces today a multi-year agreement beginning in 2026 with Andretti Formula Racing LLC for the supply of Power Units and gearboxes to the team led by TWG Global and General Motors. This agreement is subject to Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving written confirmation from both the FIA and Formula 1 of its acceptance and approval for entry into the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 2026.”
