Lewis Hamilton has once again spoken about the inclusion of Africa in the F1 calendar.
Recently, the Rwanda circuit officially submitted its bid to join the Formula 1 calendar starting in 2027. The continent, which has been absent from racing for over three decades, is making significant strides with the dream of bringing the premier motorsport competition back.
Lewis Hamilton also shared his thoughts on the subject, having previously advocated for the inclusion of Africa in the F1 calendar. In addition to the Rwanda circuit, South Africa is also making positive moves, with the Kyalami circuit being certified as suitable to host an F1 race.
Returning to the topic, Lewis made some important statements. Here are the words of the seven-time world champion: “I really hope Stefano doesn’t leave because he has been so crucial in the changes and the progress that the sport is making. I’ve talked a lot with him about the possibility of having a race in Africa, and it’s really him who promised me that he will make sure we do it before my retirement, so that’s important. It’s also about the inclusivity work we’re doing, so I really hope Stefano doesn’t step down because he’s been amazing and knows the sport like no one else.”
