Max Verstappen’s Yacht in Italy: The “Lion” Arrives in Viareggio

by Stefano Zambroni

Named “Unleash The Lion”, Max Verstappen’s new yacht set sail from the Tuscan port.

A masterpiece stretching 33 meters long (the same as his old racing number before claiming the #1 as world champion), the luxury vessel belongs to the Mangusta “Super Sport 33” series, built by the prestigious Overmarine shipyard. This nautical gem is now part of Verstappen’s growing collection.

The yacht, aptly named “Unleash the Lion”, echoes the motto that has become synonymous with Verstappen’s racing career and his personal brand. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the launch event took place in a discreet atmosphere at the Viareggio port, with tight security ensuring maximum privacy and keeping onlookers and photographers at bay.

Accompanied by his girlfriend Kelly Piquet and a group of collaborators, Verstappen arrived at the Tuscan shipyard in the late morning, escorted by a convoy of dark-windowed cars. Dressed in style – white trousers and a blue jacket – the champion spent several hours meeting the shipyard’s staff and management before enjoying an exclusive lunch in a tightly secured Versilia restaurant.

The “Unleash the Lion” yacht is a testament to cutting-edge technology and modern design. Custom-made to suit the four-time Formula 1 world champion’s preferences, the vessel features refined interiors and state-of-the-art amenities, aligning with the high standards of the Mangusta brand, renowned for its luxury and innovation.

Verstappen joins a list of elite Viareggio patrons

By acquiring this yacht, Verstappen joins a prestigious group of celebrities who have turned to Viareggio’s shipyards to bring their nautical dreams to life. This elite clientele includes sports icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Roberto Mancini, as well as business moguls like Rupert Murdoch, founder of the Sky broadcasting empire.

While it remains unclear whether the yacht will stay docked in Viareggio or be moved to a Dutch port, one thing is certain: “Unleash the Lion” is bound to make waves, much like its owner. As Verstappen continues to dominate both on and off the racetrack, he now sets his sights on a potential fifth consecutive world title, which would place him alongside Michael Schumacher as one of the sport’s most legendary figures.
