The CEO of Formula 1 gave an interview analyzing the 2026 season regulations in detail.
Although the 2025 season has yet to start, Formula 1 is already thinking about the following one. The 2026 championship will see the introduction of the new regulations and the new car configurations, and as widely announced weeks ago, teams are already working on studying various solutions.
The new regulations have undergone several changes compared to the initial draft, and the latest adjustments have brought all the engineers into agreement. In this regard, Stefano Domenicali, CEO of F1, spoke in-depth about the new regulatory changes.
These were Domenicali’s words: “When there’s a new regulation, it’s always like this. I remember when the 2022 regulations were introduced, teams complained that the cars would be six seconds slower. In four years, we’ve reached a very strong convergence. Now, we’re starting again with a different regulation, with many new challenges and various things to fine-tune. At the beginning, we won’t have this kind of gap; it would be unrealistic to think that. But, given how the 2026 F1 regulations are structured, convergence will come. .”
Domenicali then added: “I’m not worried. There are many issues that will develop. It’s normal for teams to take a conservative approach. Several new manufacturers are coming, favored by these technological changes, which help maintain the evolutionary and positive tension for those who see our formula as a development platform for the future. We need to look at the bigger picture, not just the details. We must think big .”
