Aston Martin, Alonso: “Impossible to fight for wins in 2025”

by Alessio Evangelista

Fernando Alonso gave an interesting interview to DAZN, analyzing the upcoming season set to start in two months.

It is a time of great change for Aston Martin, which is laying the foundations for a leading role in 2026. The road ahead is still long, in fact, it is entirely to be paved, as the British team currently seems like an open construction site, and the season of regulatory changes represents an uncertainty for everyone.

Aston Martin’s cornerstone remains Fernando Alonso, who will begin his umpteenth season in F1 in just over two months, with his debut now 24 years behind him. The hunger of the Asturian lion is as strong as ever, but in 2025, there will be no clear opportunities to fight for victory.

This is, in fact, Alonso‘s view, as he shared in an interview with DAZN, where he made the following statements: “Wins? Definitely not in 2025. The cars will be almost identical to last year’s, and making such a significant leap forward for us will be practically impossible. We hope the upcoming Formula 1 season will be better than the previous one, but we certainly won’t be fighting for the title.

From 2026, however, there will be major regulatory changes, and Adrian Newey will start working with us on the project for that season. My goal is to be on the podium, win races, and maybe fight for the championship. That said, 2026 will be an unknown for everyone. We hope the changes work in our favor, but right now, it’s impossible to make predictions.”
