Lewis Hamilton is eagerly awaiting his second outing in red: here’s when it might happen
The first time Lewis Hamilton drove a Ferrari is in the books. The seven-time world champion completed his first 90 kilometers at the Fiorano track with the SF-23 under Modena’s rain and fog. However, it wasn’t without challenges due to the low grip conditions.
Hamilton’s Words After the Fiorano Test
These were Lewis Hamilton’s words to Ferrari’s official media: “So far in my career, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience many ‘firsts’: my first test, first race, first podium, first win, and first championship. So, I wasn’t sure how many more special ‘firsts’ I could have left, but driving a Ferrari for the first time this morning was one of the most amazing moments of my life.
When I fired up the car and drove out of the garage, I had the biggest smile on my face. It reminded me of the very first time I tested a Formula 1 car—a moment so exciting and special. Today, almost twenty years later, I felt those same emotions all over again. I already knew, as an outsider, how passionate the Ferrari family is, from every team member to the fans! But experiencing it all firsthand as a Scuderia driver is truly extraordinary.”
Hamilton then added: “The passion runs through everyone’s veins, and it’s impossible not to be swept away by it. I am incredibly grateful for the warmth I felt from everyone here in Maranello this week. There is a lot of work to do, but I can’t wait to get started.”
Ferrari and Hamilton: When Is the Next Track Test?
So, when will the much-anticipated “second time” take place? Ferrari is set to hit the track before February 18 for the Pirelli tests at the Barcelona circuit, once again without using the 2025 car.
The exact date will be confirmed in the coming days, but according to rumors, Hamilton and Leclerc will head to Montmelò next week—a final taste of the track before the grand unveiling of what is expected to be the “Ferrari SF-25.”
