OFFICIAL: Alunni Bravi joins the McLaren family!

Italian continues to be spoken at McLaren! Alessandro Alunni Bravi will join McLaren starting in February.

After rumors linking him to a possible involvement with the MotoGP team that Lewis Hamilton is reportedly working on, the official announcement has arrived: Alessandro Alunni Bravi, former manager of the Sauber team, will be joining McLaren. Starting from February 1, 2025, the engineer from Umbria will take on the role of Chief Business Affairs Officer, reporting directly to Zak Brown. His departure from the Hinwil-based team dates back to the first half of January, marking the end of an eight-year collaboration with the Swiss squad.

In his new role at Woking, Alunni Bravi will oversee several business areas within McLaren Racing, not exclusively limited to Formula 1. His responsibilities will include managing legal affairs, driver development (a sector to which he will report directly to Andrea Stella, McLaren’s team principal), overseeing driver contracts, and maintaining relations with rights holders and governing bodies.

Talking about the new opportunity in motorsport, the Italian manager expressed his excitement at joining the team that won the Constructors’ Championship last season, adding to the Italian presence at McLaren, a point recently highlighted by Andrea Stella: “McLaren is a team I have always loved, so it’s a special feeling, on a personal level, to now have the opportunity to work with such an extraordinary group of people. I’m very grateful to be part of a great organization, with values and a culture that are clearly visible from the outside

I want to repay the trust Zak and the Board have placed in me by fully dedicating myself to contributing to the team’s ongoing success, because I firmly believe that teamwork is the key to everything. I am happy to join a team that, in my opinion, represents the benchmark in Formula 1, both on and off the track, and I can’t wait to start in February ” the engineer continued.

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, said: “I’m excited to welcome Alessandro, with his extensive experience and background in motorsport. In addition to managing our legal and driver development functions, he will provide crucial support across all areas related to the management of professional drivers, race governance activities, relations with rights holders and governing bodies, and corporate support across all our racing series as needed

The McLaren CEO concluded by thanking Steve Atkins, Chief Communications Officer, who will be leaving the team at the end of February for personal reasons: “We look forward to welcoming him to the McLaren Racing family in February. I would also like to thank Steve for his contribution to the success of McLaren Racing over the past two seasons and wish him all the best for his future endeavors
