Jorge Martin, following yesterday’s crash during testing, will have to undergo yet another surgery in his career. Here are the expected recovery times and his first words after the incident
The first day of testing did not start well for the reigning world champion, who, due to a serious crash, is already forced to stop (WATCH the video HERE). This morning, Martin broke his silence with a post on his social media channels: “I have failed many more times than I have succeeded, but I have never stopped trying. . See you soon ”
For the Madrid-born rider, this is unfortunately another injury to add to the long list that has marked his career, once again forcing him into surgery. From his early years in the lower categories to the serious accident in 2021, which even made him consider retirement, Jorge Martin has already faced many tough moments. However, as his message shows, he knows how to get back up and tackle every new challenge with determination.
Surgery and Recovery
As announced by the Aprilia team, Martin will undergo surgery tomorrow at the Dexeus clinic in Barcelona. Dr. Charte, the championship’s medical director, explained the details of the procedure to the Spanish website AS: “Tomorrow, we will operate on Martin for the fracture of the fifth metacarpal in his right hand. The fractures of the second, third, and fourth metatarsals do not require surgery. However, I will first assess the consequences of the cranioencephalic trauma before giving the final approval for the operation.”
No surgery will be needed for his foot, but his recovery timeline remains uncertain. As confirmed by Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola, the Spanish rider will certainly not be able to participate in the next scheduled tests on February 12 and 13. While his desire to return to the track is strong, caution will be necessary to ensure a full and safe recovery.
