Ducati, Bagnaia: “Today nothing worked, let’s focus on the 2024 engine.”

Pecco Bagnaia commented on the first day of testing in Buriram, with Ducati focusing on the 2024 engine.

It wasn’t exactly an ideal first day of testing for Pecco Bagnaia. In Buriram, on the first day of the final pre-season MotoGP tests, the two-time world champion in the premier class didn’t stand out, encountering several issues with his Ducati.

Ducati, Bagnaia: “Today nothing worked, let’s focus on the 2024 engine.”

Pecco spoke to Sky Sport’s microphones, analyzing the day’s events. Here’s what he had to say: “It was an unlucky day, nothing really worked, tomorrow we have to start from scratch. The good news is that on the other side of the box, from Marc, we got positive feedback. We had a lot of mechanical issues, which forced us to spend a lot of time in the pits, an hour and a half! It was a day to forget, hoping tomorrow everything will be fine. The team still did a great job today because when I say nothing worked, it means nothing went right.”

Bagnaia then added: “The choice of the 2024 engine is the most thought-out, because the 2025 bike puts you in a limbo where it’s easy to go backward instead of forward. The GP24 engine is definitely a fantastic engine, it has a solid foundation, and the choice is more in that direction, although we’ll wait until tomorrow to decide. Aerodynamics is still a question mark, we might even try a mix. As for the new chassis, we’ll try it later, we need to focus on other aspects tomorrow.”
