Yesterday, Lando Norris took his first laps behind the wheel of the MCL39, launching his challenge for 2025.
In a surprise move, McLaren hit the track at Silverstone with Norris and Piastri testing the MCL39 (with a camouflage livery) that will compete in the 2025 Formula 1 season. From the first images shown by the Papaya team, there are some updates on the new creation from Woking, which this year aims to win both championships.

After winning the Constructors’ Championship in 2024, the main goal now is to return to winning a Drivers’ Championship, a title that has been missing for 17 years. Lando Norris, Max Verstappen‘s main rival last season, shows his determination, as confirmed by his words to the official F1 channels.
These are the Englishman’s words: “My mindset right now is great. I think it’s definitely different from how it was last year. I feel that last year was a really good year for me, not just for the results, but for the mindset and approach. With the media, I’ve never been someone who puts too much trust in my own predictions or what I’ve done. I’ve always been honest and with the mentality of the glass half empty rather than half full.”
Norris then added: “I’ve always liked proving to myself that I can do what I want. Last year, I proved to myself that I can fight Max and that I can win races, like I did in Abu Dhabi, that I can take pole and make it to the finish line. A big part of my mindset is based on this, which might not always be the best thing, but it’s how I work and live.”
And finally: “I feel very relaxed, comfortable, and determined. I feel like I can keep things under control, that I’m not too nervous or too old for things like that. I’m very excited. I feel good, I feel good with the team. I think the most important thing is that I’m calm about everything. I’m excited, but calm.”
