Williams, Sainz: “The initial indications have been positive, but there is still a lot of work to do.”

The first real taste of the FW47 for Carlos Sainz, who provided the first feedback to the engineers of the British team.

On Valentine’s Day, Williams unveiled the FW47 at Silverstone with a livery different from the one it will use in the 2025 season. The first laps on track, therefore, for Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon, with the former Ferrari driver giving his first feedback to the engineers of the British team.

Williams, Sainz: “The initial indications have been positive, but there is still a lot of work to do.”

These are Carlos Sainz‘s words after the first laps on the FW47: “I need to feel involved, to have clear and challenging goals. At Williams, I’ve found an environment that shares this mentality of mine. There’s a lot to do, but the motivation is there. As for today’s test, we’ve gathered important data and understood which areas to focus on. The road is long, but the initial feeling is positive.”

The season ahead seems to be an important one but, at the same time, a transitional period for both the Spanish driver and Williams, which, without hiding too much, has repeatedly hinted that it will focus a lot on the 2026 car, sacrificing much of the upcoming season. The arrival of an experienced driver like Sainz will certainly benefit the British team, which aims to return to fighting for victories after the glory days of the 90s.
