Ferrari, Leclerc, and Hamilton can fight for the World Championship: Carlos Sainz’s words

According to Carlos Sainz, the fresh former Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton have significant chances of fighting for the World Championship.

A month ago, a new chapter began for Ferrari with the arrival of Lewis Hamilton in Maranello. Almost thirty days have passed since the seven-time world champion landed in Emilia, with test laps at Fiorano and a visit to the headquarters of the Prancing Horse.

Ferrari, Leclerc, and Hamilton can fight for the World Championship: Carlos Sainz’s words

A completely revamped and highly energized Ferrari, which after battling for the Constructors’ title in 2024, has the ambition to compete for both titles in the 2025 season. The extra boost comes from the second half of last season and the arrival of new engineers, as well as the differences, as Vasseur mentioned, between the SF-25 and the SF-24.

To further energize the atmosphere, former driver Carlos Sainz, who recently drove the Williams FW47 for the first time, spoke to the press, also commenting on Ferrari. The Spaniard said: “We’ll see how each team starts the year, but I remember telling everyone at Ferrari, when I left, that they were ready to fight for the championships and even win a title. When I left Ferrari, the team was at its peak, in extraordinary shape to face that challenge. And I think Charles, being the only one I personally know, is ready to fight for the championship.”

Sainz also spoke about Lewis Hamilton: “I was never teammates with Lewis, so I can’t have a precise idea of what he can do, I’ve never seen his telemetry. Obviously, I’ve been teammates with Charles and I know how good he is, but it’s hard for me to judge Lewis. I think the only way to properly evaluate a driver is to analyze their data and see what they’re capable of.

However, we can judge his results, his background, and what he has achieved, and based on that, I can say that there is a good chance he will remain competitive even behind the wheel of Ferrari. I believe much will depend on how well he adapts to the car and the team. There are so many variables that make it impossible to make predictions, but I can say that when I left Ferrari, I felt both the team and Charles were ready to fight for a world championship, and with Lewis’ arrival, that opportunity can only increase.”
