Major upheaval at the top of ACI, as this morning saw the departure of President Angelo Sticchi Damiani. Replacing him is Tullio Del Sette
Significant changes are unfolding within ACI. Just moments ago, as reported by Motorsport.com, President Angelo Sticchi Damiani was declared removed from office. Serving his fourth term since his appointment in 2011, Sticchi Damiani had come under fire in recent days from both F1 and the FIA. Reports from sources close to the matter suggest that Stefano Domenicali and Mohammed Ben Sulayem raised concerns with the Italian government regarding his repeated re-elections.

With his position now officially revoked, Sticchi Damiani will step down definitively. In his place, Tullio Del Sette has been appointed on an interim basis, likely until internal elections are held within ACI. Born in 1951 and a former high-ranking officer of the Carabinieri, Del Sette will temporarily lead the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI).
Sticchi Damiani’s unexpected exit marks a dramatic turn of events and could impact negotiations between Italy and the F1 circus. A key issue remains the continued presence of Imola and Monza on the F1 calendar, which in recent months has been threatened by FIA and Domenicali’s proposed track rotation system. Time will tell whether the new leadership will bring any changes.
