A fired-up Charles Leclerc has made bold statements, openly discussing Ferrari’s ambitions for the world championship titles
Leclerc’s honesty and straightforwardness have always been key traits of his personality. Once again, the Monegasque driver did not hold back, brushing aside superstition by explicitly talking about winning the World Championship—perhaps for the first time since joining Ferrari. Undoubtedly, sharing the garage with a seven-time world champion like Lewis Hamilton fuels these thoughts. However, Leclerc’s words also reveal genuine optimism, which, unlike previous years, doesn’t seem particularly cautious.
Where does Ferrari stand now? After a disappointing 2023 season, the Scuderia made a significant turnaround in 2024—arguably the first year of a car truly shaped by Fred Vasseur. Securing second place in the Constructors’ Championship, just 14 points behind McLaren, and amassing an impressive total of over 600 points reignited the dreams of Ferrari fans, especially towards the end of the season. A title that seemed unattainable midway through the year, given the gap to McLaren and Red Bull, suddenly became a possibility. Now, the question remains: will 2025 finally be the year Ferrari ends its title drought, which has lasted since 2008?
Leclerc’s Words: “I Want Both Titles”
Speaking to Sky Sport, Charles Leclerc shared his hopes for Ferrari’s 2025 title campaign:
“My desire to become world champion has always been the same. I love what I do, I love Ferrari, and I want to win with Ferrari. Winning the title in red would be something incredible. I’m doing everything I can to achieve it as soon as possible, and I hope this is the right year”. .”
““We worked really hard, not just me training, but all the squad. They did work to get ready as soon as possible during the tests. We made a plenty of days at the simulator, so many laps, as it was positive to be ready for this first days, preparing the Bahrain’s tests”. .”
Leclerc continued: “Last year we ended in second place in the Championship, as it was really disappointing. So, the goal now is to win. That should always be Ferrari’s goal—when you race in red, you have to aim for victory. I’d definitely be disappointed if we don’t win both titles, but we will do everything to make it happen”.“.
