Razgatlioglu on the Crash: “I’m lucky not to have anything broken, but I feel pain everywhere”

During the WorldSBK tests in Australia, Toprak Razgatlioglu suffered a bad crash. The technicians are puzzled about what caused it

Three laps into the test session, Toprak Razgatlioglu experienced a violent highside. Fortunately, the world champion didn’t sustain any fractures. Later in the Australian afternoon, the Turkish rider returned to the track, completing 34 laps and setting the third-fastest time (behind only Italians Bulega and Iannone).

Toprak Razgatlioglu’s Comments

At the end of the tests, the current WorldSBK champion spoke about the incident: “It was a very strange crash. We checked the data: I was at 39% throttle, and the highside happened because the traction didn’t work there. I spoke with my electronics guy who did some checks and didn’t know why it happened. I’m lucky not to have anything broken, but I feel pain everywhere, especially in my hand.

This afternoon I went back out because I needed to ride to understand the bike and work on the setup. By the end of the day, we had a good pace. We understood the bike and found a good setup. Tomorrow is another day, and I hope to find a good setup because the pace here is important. It’s not bad, but I need something more. I saw the picture of me in the air! I immediately tried to protect my hand. My finger is not too bad, it hurts a little.

I think I’ll feel better for the race weekend, and that’s the important thing since there are three or four days left. It seems like everything is going well, it was just a little strange this morning” , he concluded.
