Lewis Hamilton has just turned 40, but numbers are just a state of mind. This is the word of the seven-time world champion, who, in a long and interesting interview with Time, spoke about his future plans, which will always be tied to the world of racing, starting with Formula 1.

A new adventure began about two months ago for the Brit, who will race for Ferrari, fulfilling a dream he’s had since childhood. Through a series of tests with cars from previous years, Hamilton was able to get comfortable with the environment and the car, arriving in Bahrain pumped up, as highlighted by his statements.

At this point, there is absolutely no room for retirement in his goals, as emphasized by his words to Time: “Being old is just a state of mind. Certainly, the body ages, but I will never be old. What I can say is that retirement is not in my plans. And who knows, I might stay in Formula 1 until I’m 50.”

These were the words of Sir Lewis, who then added: “Don’t compare me to anyone, ever. I’ve been and am the first and only black driver to have ever participated in this sport. I’ve trained differently, I’ve been through a lot, and I’ve had my own path. You can’t compare me to any other 40-year-old Formula 1 driver, past or present, because no one is like me. I’m hungry, motivated, I don’t have a wife or kids. I’m focused on just one thing: winning. It’s my number one priority.”
