A shocking development involving the Tuscan engineer: after the announcement of his move to England, Ferrari appears to have “blocked” Enrico Cardile’s transfer to Aston Martin
Enrico Cardile to Aston Martin. Or maybe not. The news reported just hours ago by Corriere dello Sport is truly incredible regarding the former Ferrari engineer. Yes, former. Cardile bid farewell to the Cavallino Rampante in July 2024, promptly replaced by Loic Serra, a trusted figure of Toto Wolff, who left Brackley. The ex-Ferrari engineer was set to be the first of many multi-million-dollar investments by Lawrence Stroll at Aston Martin, where Adrian Newey has also officially begun his new role.

Enrico Cardile is now entangled in a complex situation involving Ferrari and Aston Martin. The Maranello-based team has yet to fully authorize his move to Silverstone for 2025. The reason behind this sudden halt? The well-known issue of “gardening leave” – a mandatory break for engineers and team principals switching teams. Ferrari has reportedly extended this period until July 2025, effectively delaying Cardile’s transition.
As a result, Ferrari has unexpectedly blocked the transfer, despite the Arezzo-born engineer already beginning his work at Aston Martin. He had even been introduced by team principal Andy Cowell, another major addition to Stroll’s 2025 project, replacing Mike Krack. Further details remain unknown for now, as the F1 world awaits potential updates or official statements from both teams.
