The Belgian driver will take part in his fourth season in Formula 2 following Christian Mansell’s unexpected departure.
Less than 10 days before the start of the 2025 season, the Formula 2 grid is complete once again after Christian Mansell’s surprising departure from the series for still unknown reasons. His seat at Rodin will be taken by Amaury Cordeel.
The Belgian driver, born in 2002, will thus take part in his fourth season in Formula 2. In 2022, he made his debut in the series with Van Amersfoort, which had promoted him from Formula 3 despite a 2021 season without any points.
In 2023, the Belgian driver was signed by Invicta Racing to partner with Jack Doohan. Despite having a more competitive car, he finished the season with only 8 points, compared to 26 the previous year.
In 2024, Cordeel partnered with Paul Aron at Hitech. The season was generally positive, starting with strong tire management in Jeddah, where he lost the Feature Race podium on the finish straight.
After his standout performance in Saudi Arabia, the Belgian driver secured multiple top-ten finishes, including a fourth place in the Sprint Race at Imola. He ended the season in 17th place with an impressive 39 points.
Amaury Cordeel completes the Rodin team lineup: here are the statements.
“I’m delighted to be back competing in the FIA Formula 2 World Championship with Rodin Motorsport”, stated the Belgian driver. “I’m very much looking forward to working with the team to maximise our potential and achieve some strong results together.”
Team Rodin Sporting Director and F2 Team Manager Benn Huntingford added: “We’re very pleased to welcome Amaury into the team for the 2025 season.”
“We have a lot to learn about each other quickly, having missed pre-season testing, but we’re looking forward to taking advantage of his experience and knowledge of the current F2 car and all that he has learned from his time in the series so far. He is a great addition to the team, and we look forward to working with him this season.”
