Today, the official communication from the FIA has arrived: Cadillac will be the 11th team starting from 2026.

The news had been unofficially circulating in recent weeks, but now it’s official: Cadillac will be the 11th Formula 1 team starting in the 2026 season. The announcement came in the afternoon, with the FIA and Liberty Media confirming the entry of the American team, which will be supported by Andretti and General Motors.

Today, the FIA and Formula One Management announced that the Cadillac Formula 1 team has met the requirements to join the 10 existing teams starting next year, according to the official statement on the Formula 1 website. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “As we mentioned in November, General Motors’ commitment to bringing a Cadillac team to Formula 1 has been an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport. I would like to thank GM and TWG Motorsports for their constructive commitment over the past months, and I look forward to welcoming the team to the grid in 2026 for what will be another exciting year for Formula 1.”

IFIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem added: “Today marks a moment of transformation, and I am proud to lead the Federation in this step forward for the championship. The expansion of the FIA Formula One World Championship to an 11th team in 2026 is a milestone. GM/Cadillac brings new energy, aligning with the new FIA 2026 regulations and ushering in an exciting era for the sport. The presence of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team in the paddock will inspire future competitors and fans. Their entry strengthens our mission to push the boundaries of motorsport at the highest level.”

Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports, said: “Over the past year, we’ve worked closely with GM to lay a solid foundation for an outstanding participation in Formula 1. Now, with the 2026 goal after today’s final approval from the FIA and Formula One Management, we are accelerating our efforts, expanding our facilities, refining cutting-edge technologies, and continuing to gather top-tier talent.”

GM President Mark Reuss commented: “We’re thrilled that the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is official, as the team has accelerated its work.
