Oscar Piastri comes off an excellent season that allowed him to win two Grands Prix, and now he aims to consistently fight for the title.

In just under a week, the 2025 Formula 1 season will begin in Melbourne. It will be a home Grand Prix for Oscar Piastri, who, after a great 2024 season, wants to confirm his performance at the wheel of a McLaren that, for now, appears to have an advantage over the competition.

In short, all the ingredients for an exciting and competitive World Championship are in place, with Piastri himself, after winning in Baku and Hungary last season, aiming to raise the bar and consistently fight for the drivers’ title. The Australian driver confirmed his intention to target the championship in a recent interview.

Here are his words: “I hope to be in the fight. It depends on how we start the season and how the car performs throughout the year. Last year, it took a few races to find the right balance. We hope to do better at the start of this season. For sure, I’ll come in with the hope and ambition to fight for the drivers’ title and help the team maintain the constructors’ title. With the season we just had, it would be foolish to aim for anything less, and certainly to prepare for anything less, but we’ll see how we come out of the gates and reassess everything.”
