by Giulia Amari

It’s Manu Gonzalez who takes home the first 25 points of Moto2! Behind him, Aron Canet and Senna Agius.

Manu Gonzalez flies to victory, returning home with the full spoils from the first Moto2 race. Though not an optimal start for him, he quickly regains the lead of the race within a few laps: behind him, Aron Canet (2nd) and Senna Agius (3rd). Surprisingly, the best rookie is Dani Holgado, who finishes in 8th position.

Race Summary:

Celestino Vietti made a great start, immediately taking the lead of the race, with Manu Gonzalez and Agius right behind him. Binder and Guevara (4th and 5th respectively) received a double long lap penalty for a jump start. On lap 3, Manu Gonzalez passed Vietti and took control of the race, beginning to pull away from the Italian rider.

Midway through the race, Agius attempted to pass Vietti but collided with the Italian rider, sending him to the ground and forcing him to retire. In the aftermath, Canet and Moreira moved up to the podium spots. The Australian rider was later penalized with a long lap penalty for irresponsible riding, but the more than four-second gap over Ramirez allowed him to remain in 4th position.

The race concluded with a three-lap battle between Diogo Moreira and Senna Agius for the final podium spot. The Australian came out on top: a double podium for Intact GP, with both bikes finishing in the top-3.
