Everything is set for the Madrid GP, which is expected to join the Formula 1 calendar in 2026. The official announcement was made on social media, revealing that the circuit will be named “MadRing”
“MadRing” is the name of the brand-new track set to rise in Spain’s capital, Madrid, and become part of the F1 schedule from 2026. After numerous disputes, controversies, and sponsorship-related financial hurdles, the Madrid event has been fiercely supported by Stefano Domenicali, the key advocate behind the Iberian race, which will be the second Spanish stop on the calendar alongside the long-standing Barcelona Grand Prix.
As reported by Motorsport.com, the event will be known as “MadRing”. The addition of “Ring” is not unfamiliar in the current F1 calendar, as the English word for “circuit” already appears in the names of the Red Bull Ring in Austria and the Hungaroring in Hungary. However, unlike these two European tracks, the Madrid circuit will be an urban street circuit rather than a traditional racing venue.
The circuit has secured a place on the F1 calendar until at least 2035, following an agreement reached in late January between IFEMA (the organizing body) and Formula 1, led by Stefano Domenicali. The track will span 5.47 kilometers, featuring 20 corners and an exceptionally high average speed of 213 km/h, a remarkable figure for a street circuit. At present, this speed is only second to Baku and Las Vegas, though estimates may vary as development progresses.
