Lando Norris spoke to the media ahead of the first race of the season, scheduled in Melbourne, Australia.

We are in the week of the first Grand Prix of the season, which will take place on the Melbourne circuit in Australia. After the three-day test in Bahrain two weeks ago, McLaren appears to be the team to beat, with an advantage over the competition, particularly in terms of race pace. Norris himself, speaking to the media ahead of the season opener, admitted that he might have the best car at his disposal.

McLaren, Norris: “We believe we have the best car, it will be a tough and exciting season.”

Here are the words of the 2024 Vice-World Champion: “I’m happy to start the 2025 season in Melbourne. It’s a special track for me because it’s where I debuted with McLaren in 2019. In the past, this circuit has given us good results, and we hope we’ve managed to maintain the positive momentum from 2024 into this year.

We had a productive test, but we’ll only know where we truly stand after Saturday’s qualifying. I think this will be a very exciting season, with close races and fierce competition. There will be great battles on track, which will make the show even more thrilling for the fans. I’m ready to kick off the season.”

The Briton then added: “I can’t wait, I love Australia. Bahrain hasn’t been positive for us in recent years; we’ve always faced many difficulties there. Last year, however, we were fast in Australia, and Melbourne is a pretty good track for us, with medium-to-high-speed corners where we usually perform well. That race was one of the first of the season, but considering the performance of the car and how much we were able to change throughout the year, it turned out to be a very good race. McLaren proved to have one of the best cars, if not the best all-around car.”
