Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari’s Team Principal, spoke to the press ahead of the first race of the season.
Starting this weekend, it’s time to get serious again. Formula 1, after the end-of-February tests in Bahrain, is ready to restart, with the first Grand Prix of the season in Melbourne, Australia. There’s a lot of hype for a season that promises to be intense and competitive, but also filled with many uncertainties..
To present the first race of the year at Ferrari, Team Principal Frederic Vasseur spoke from Melbourne. Here’s what he had to say: “The wait is over, and we are ready to hit the track for the first race of the season. In a way, it feels like going back in time, as it has been several years since Australia last hosted the opening round.
The Albert Park street circuit is not particularly representative of what we can expect for the rest of the season, but we did well here last year, and we are confident for the weekend ahead. Of course, there are many uncertainties, and we can’t wait to see what the on-track hierarchy will be, especially since the results from the Bahrain test were very difficult to interpret.”
The Frenchman then added: “During the winter, we worked hard at the factory in Maranello, and so did Charles, who focused especially on his physical preparation, and Lewis, who gave his best to integrate into the team as quickly as possible. I believe we have everything needed to do well, but, as always, we will first focus on ourselves, knowing that this is just the beginning of a very long season. A week ago, we received a wonderful reception in Milan from a sea of our fans, and now, in Melbourne, we want to give our best to give them something to be proud of.”
