Lando Norris dominates the Australian Grand Prix, showcasing both his strength and McLaren’s.
Norris picks up right where he left off: from his victory in Abu Dhabi 2024 to his triumph in Melbourne. The 2025 season starts in the best possible way for the Brit, who finds confidence and consistency in his new car. The extraordinary competitiveness of the MCL39 was complemented by a stellar performance from Lando, who, for the first time in his career, finds himself leading the championship—and with his mind set on the title.

Lando Norris’ Words After the Victory
Norris emphasized how both he and the team have learned from the mistakes made throughout last season: “Last year, we made a lot of mistakes, and I’d say we’ve learned from them. In 2024, we lost the race in Silverstone and Canada in similar situations, but this time we learned the lesson. It’s only the first race, but managing Max and Oscar with the pressure they were putting on me… I couldn’t afford to relax, and I had to push the whole race.”

“We couldn’t afford mistakes, and luckily I didn’t make any that compromised the race. I want to thank the team for giving me a fantastic car and congratulate them on the great work they’ve done. How did I manage Max? I just drove. I also made a mistake in Turn 6, and Max got closer, getting DRS, which here is worth a full second. I stayed calm and, despite a few scares, we brought home the win. “
“I hope this race gives the team a big confidence boost. It’s not easy to have weekends like this, especially considering the pressure Max and Oscar put on me. This is just the first stop of a long season, and we need to keep our heads down and continue pushing,” Lando said during the post-race interview in Melbourne.
