Charles Leclerc under FIA investigation: could the Monegasque face a penalty?

During the Sprint Qualifying session, Charles Leclerc failed to respect the delta time: now the FIA is waiting for an explanation from car #16.

The FIA has opened an investigation into Charles Leclerc and Lance Stroll following the Sprint Qualifying in China.

Sprint Qualifying in China: Leclerc under investigation, here’s why

Both drivers failed to comply with the delta time during their first lap, exceeding the allowed time limit. Specifically, the Monegasque reportedly slowed down to follow a team order to swap positions with Lewis Hamilton.

It will now be up to car #16 to explain the situation to the stewards, regarding the “swap-drivers” instruction given by Bryan Bozzi over the team radio.

Leclerc Under Investigation: FIA’s Verdict

“No further action against the two drivers” – with this statement, the FIA cleared Charles Leclerc and Lance Stroll of any wrongdoing after consulting with Race Direction.

Leclerc will therefore start P4, while Stroll will line up in P10.
