Sensational news emerges from Shanghai: both Ferrari drivers, Hamilton and Leclerc, have been disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix due to their cars being underweight. Pierre Gasly has also been disqualified by the FIA

Things go from bad to worse for Ferrari. An already lackluster start to the season—putting it mildly—was compounded by a disappointing performance in the Chinese GP. Now, an even bigger bombshell has dropped: Charles Leclerc faces disqualification. The Monegasque driver damaged his front wing at the start due to contact with Hamilton (who was also under investigation), losing between 20 and 30 points of downforce and continuing with a front wing that was right on the regulatory limits.

Leclerc Disqualified in China? Unbelievable, but His Ferrari Weighed 1 kg Less Due to the Damaged Wing

During the FIA’s routine post-race checks in China, an additional irregularity was found on Charles Leclerc’s car. Instead of meeting the mandatory 800 kg minimum weight required at the end of the race, Ferrari’s car was recorded at 799 kg—1 kilogram under the regulatory limit.

A similar fate could befall Pierre Gasly’s Alpine, as his car was also reportedly found to be underweight. The FIA issued the following statement:” “After the race, Leclerc’s car was weighed at 800 kg, the minimum required under Article 4.1 of the technical regulations. Since the front wing was damaged, the car was weighed a second time with a new wing, measuring 800.5 kg. After this measurement, two liters of fuel were removed from the car, bringing the weight down to 799 kg”. “.
