Ferrari, the SF-25 doesn’t convince in many aspects: a new floor arrives in Suzuka

The SF-25 certainly didn’t shine in the first two races of the season, and Ferrari is studying countermeasures, with a new floor arriving in Suzuka.

Expectations for the 2025 season were sky-high for Ferrari for many reasons, but after the first two races, the morale is quite different compared to the one at the Milan launch event. The Australian and Chinese Grands Prix highlighted significant difficulties for the SF-25, with the only flashes of brilliance seen on the Saturday in Shanghai (pole position and victory in the sprint race for Lewis Hamilton).

According to sources close to the Prancing Horse, most of the difficulties with Ferrari’s new creation lie in the new rear suspension, which is currently difficult to interpret by engineers, especially when there are sudden changes in weather conditions and, consequently, in the car’s behavior. The decision to completely overhaul the car, compared to the one that finished the previous season on a high, has not paid off, but Ferrari is studying its first countermeasures to address the issues.

Starting from the next Grand Prix, scheduled in two weeks at Suzuka, a new floor will be introduced on the Red cars of Leclerc and Hamilton. This is a significant choice, as, according to sources close to Ferrari, the engineers had already been aware of the issues with the floor since the Bahrain tests. Now, with this new specification, it seems the SF-25’s performance may improve.

The Suzuka circuit, challenging and crucial for evaluating a car’s potential, will serve as an important test to see if Ferrari has truly resolved its problems and can start battling with direct competitors, starting with a very strong McLaren.
