Another hand surgery for the Spaniard, who will miss the Americas GP: here’s his condition and recovery progress.

Sergio Garcia’s recovery is taking longer than expected. The Moto2 rider fractured the fourth metacarpal of his right hand during the last day of testing in Jerez, with a fall that caused significant problems for the number 3 rider.

After undergoing surgery in Spain by Dr. Mir, everything seemed to be progressing well, and his return to the track was scheduled for the second round of the championship. Unfortunately, when he arrived in Argentina, he was declared unfit by the medical commission, and once again, Oscar Gutierrez, a MotoE rider, filled in for him.

Sergio Garcia consulted with the surgeon again and underwent a second operation, a decision that will unfortunately cost him his participation in the Americas GP (which he won last year). From the videos posted on social media, it seems the recovery is going well. The goal? The same as Jorge Martin’s: to get back on track in Qatar.

Sergio Garcia’s Message

He said: “Hello everyone, after returning from Argentina, I had a medical checkup to assess the condition of my right hand fracture. After speaking with Dr. Mir, he decided that the best solution was to undergo another surgery and use a different method. I want to inform you that I won’t be able to participate in the Austin race, but we will come back stronger and more determined than ever for the race in Qatar. See you soon on track!”
