Marc Marquez, aiming for his eighth victory in Austin, addressed journalists during the press conference: here’s what he had to say about the comparison with Hamilton
We’re in the land of cowboys… a place that Marc Marquez has practically made his own over the years. Seven wins, seven pole positions, and seven fastest laps in ten editions put the rider from Cervera at the top of every leaderboard related to the Circuit of the Americas.
Interestingly, it’s Marc’s own brother, Alex Marquez, who benefits from these impressive stats: “I’m happy because all this talk helps take the pressure off me and put it on Marc’s shoulders,” commented the number 73, who has had an outstanding start to the season with two second-place finishes in the first two races.
Marquez on the Hamilton Comparison: “It’s Nice, But Our Style…”
During the press conference ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Marquez was asked about the frequent comparison made in Italy between him and Lewis Hamilton. His response:
“Comparison with Hamilton? Well, the first thing we have in common this year is that we both switched to red… (laughs). He’s had a strong start, especially with the Sprint win in China. For me, it’s an honor to be compared to him.”
He continued: “Lewis is a superstar, even though we have very different styles when it comes to fashion… but it’s always great to be compared to an incredible athlete like him, no matter the sport.”
