Marc Marquez crashes during MotoGP FP1 in Austin: a big risk for the Spaniard
The first MotoGP free practice sessions conclude for Ducati, with Marc Marquez finishing third and Pecco Bagnaia in sixth. While Bagnaia still seems to be getting fully comfortable with the bike, the Spaniard is in perfect shape. Despite his position, Marquez took some significant risks during the session.

Dall’Igna’s comments
Gigi Dall’Igna, the “father” of the Ducati Desmosedici GP25, commented on the first free practice session: “Pecco had a really good session. Marc, all things considered, after his crash, regained the feeling pretty well and is still using the bike he had in Argentina. We’ll see what happens as the weekend progresses, but so far everything seems pretty positive.”
“The forecasts for the next few days are much better than today, and it shouldn’t rain on Sunday. This makes today’s session less relevant for the race, though not entirely useless. It’s still an important session because it’s the first time we’ve been on a wet track this year. The data collected might be useful in future situations, but for Sunday’s race, it will have a rather limited impact,” concluded Dall’Igna.
Marquez’s crash
Just yesterday, the Spanish rider promised to “leave margin for Turn 2,” but that wasn’t the case. On his home turf, Marquez lost the rear (while getting very close to the curb) and flew off the bike in a relatively violent highside.

No physical issues for him, and he gets back on track. Marquez finished in third place, behind Morbidelli and Miller.
