At the end of the same meeting, Domenicali expressed words of confidence, confirming F1’s interest in Asia. Recently, it seems that a preliminary agreement has been reached. According to Bangkok Post, the F1 leadership has reached an understanding with the National government for the creation and hosting of a Grand Prix in the capital, Bangkok, starting from 2028.

The project for the new street circuit has received government approval, with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra taking the lead, while Dr. Gongsak Yodmani confirmed that the area selected to host the event is the Chatuchak district, located in Bangkok. This move is aimed at promoting the country’s growth and developing tourism with a world-class event.

Yodmani, when asked about the topic, stated: “The important thing is that we need to understand the community and the people in the area who will be impacted by the race. We all agree that hosting an F1 event should benefit all stakeholders, especially those living in the area.”.

Local hero Alexander Albon also commented on the matter. The Williams driver said: “I’m trying to stay informed about the situation by talking with Domenicali. It’s very exciting, not just for me but for all of Formula 1. Thailand is a fantastic country, and I’m sure those who have been there will confirm that. I’d love to show my colleagues, one day, our culture, food, and so on. It will be interesting with the heat; it’s an aspect that could make it a Singapore 2.0. But even more so because of this. On my part, I’m doing everything I can to make it happen. But let’s see.”
