The ups and downs of Portimão seem to have affected the performance of the Italian rider, characterized by highs and lows.
The WorldSBK has arrived at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, one of the most spectacular circuits in the entire MotoGP calendar, for the first European round. The races are expected to be quite competitive, especially between Bulega and Razgatlioglu, with the Italian leading the overall standings and the Turk, after Australia, needing a comeback to elevate that number one on his fairing.

However, it would be a mistake to underestimate Bautista and Iannone, who both performed well in the first round of the championship. Unfortunately, for the latter, the Portuguese weekend could be complicated by a penalty handed out after FP3.
The Pata Go Eleven team started the weekend on the right foot, securing sixth place in the first free practice and fourth in the second. However, a mistake by Iannone in this morning’s session could jeopardize the entire round.
Penalty for Iannone: Here’s the Reason
Shortly after the conclusion of the third free practice session, the decision from the steward panel was announced and later shared through WorldSBK’s official social media pages: “Andrea Iannone has been handed a 3-position grid penalty for Race 1, as it was observed that the Italian was riding slowly during the last 10 minutes of FP3.”
