American Racing looks to the future: Big news ahead of the Austin Grand Prix

During the weekend of the Americas Grand Prix, American Racing expands its commitment to motorsport by officially joining the Road to MotoGP program. After seven seasons in Moto2, the U.S.-based team is aiming higher with new projects in the FIM JuniorGP and MotoAmerica Talent Cup. The goal? To create a structured pathway for American talent aspiring to reach the MotoGP World Championship.

JuniorGP and MotoAmerica: The New Growth Plan

In the FIM JuniorGP, the team has partnered with Andifer to field two riders in the European Talent Cup (ETC) and the European Moto2 Championship. Among them, rising star Mickey Sanchez will make his debut in the ETC, marking a significant step forward for U.S. talent, with an eye toward 2026.

In the United States, a new collaboration with Warhorse Ducati has led to the team’s entry into the MotoAmerica Talent Cup. Legendary motorcycle figure Eraldo Ferracci will lead the project, with Alessandro Di Mario ready to hit the track. The agreement states that the winner of the 2025 Talent Cup will be fully funded by American Racing for an ETC season, creating a genuine springboard into the international racing scene.

A Concrete Path to MotoGP

Wayne Rainey, president of MotoAmerica and three-time 500cc world champion, praised the initiative during an official MotoGP interview: “The Talent Cup is a crucial step for our championship and for young American riders looking to reach the highest levels.” Carlos Ezpeleta, sporting director of Dorna, also highlighted the value of the project: “American Racing’s expansion into lower categories offers a great opportunity for young Americans, leading up to the MotoGP paddock.”

Eitan Butbul, team principal of American Racing, confirmed the team’s ambition: “Since 2019, we’ve been working to bring American riders onto the world stage. This recognition from MotoGP strengthens our commitment. We want to offer a clear, concrete pathway to the World Championship,” he concludes.
