Moto2 Standings After Austin: Gonzalez Makes a Strategic Mistake, Dixon Takes the Lead

Austin shakes up the standings: Gonzalez’s first zero of the season, Dixon pulls ahead, Ortola and Alonso score points. Here’s the situation.

The third round of the MotoGP World Championship has concluded: the Circuit of the Americas played a nasty trick on several riders while giving important points to others. Gonzalez made a fatal mistake by choosing slick tires despite the rain, finishing 22nd, while Dixon claimed victory. The British rider overtakes Gonzalez in the standings and now leads by 14 points.

The consistency of Canet also pays off, as the Spaniard moves up to second position, while Tony Arbolino makes a significant leap forward, thanks to his first podium of the season.

A good race for Ortola, Veijer, Gutierrez, Van der Goorbergh, and Alonso: all five earn their first points. On the other hand, Celestino Vietti remains stationary, recording his second zero of the season (the other was in Thailand).
