A bizarre incident in the Porsche Carrera Cup France: here’s the crash… definitely an unusual one.
The year is 2015, and during Race 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup France in Navarra, fans witnessed an unbelievable scene: two cars literally stacked on top of each other after a heavy collision on track.
The protagonists of the crash were Jules Gounon (currently competing in the WEC) and Joffrey De Narda, with Gounon’s Porsche ending up suspended on the roof of De Narda’s car in one of the most surreal incidents in the history of the category.
Two cars perfectly upright: what happened?
The crash happened with 34 minutes remaining in the race, as the drivers battled for position when the contact led to a completely surreal outcome. The images quickly spread worldwide, showing Gounon’s car perfectly balanced on top of De Narda’s, almost like a motorsport sculpture.
Once it was confirmed that both drivers were unharmed, the photos went viral again. Years later, the incident resurfaced after the hypewhip page, boasting 6 million followers, reshared the moment on its social media channels.
These scenes continue to go viral even today, to the point where a scale model of the crash was created after many motorsport fans were left completely stunned by what they had witnessed.
