Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri spoke to the press ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, the third race of the season.
McLaren started the 2025 season on the right foot, with two wins in as many races, and three if you count the sprint race in China, which was won by Lewis Hamilton. Lando Norris’ victory in Australia and Piastri’s dominant win in Shanghai allowed the papaya team to climb to the top of the constructors’ standings and put Norris at the top of the drivers’ championship.

The season, of course, is still very long. Both drivers are well aware of this, starting with Lando Norris, who spoke to the press ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. Here are his words: “I can’t wait to get back to Japan, it’s one of my favorite weekends on the calendar. The atmosphere created by the fans is incredible, and Suzuka is truly an amazing circuit to race on. It was useful to have a week off after a positive start to the season. We had the chance to go back to Woking to celebrate with the team, as well as spend time on the simulator and work with the engineers to prepare for this intense series of races. We gathered a lot of information from the first two rounds, and now it’s time to put it into practice.”
Sharing the same mindset as the Briton is Piastri, with the Australian predicting a tight battle with the other three top teams until the end. These are his comments: “Suzuka is one of the most exciting circuits for us drivers. The 130R is legendary, and the combination of high-speed corners, along with the fact that the track has remained practically unchanged over the years, makes the driving experience truly unique. Arriving in Japan after the win in China is a great feeling, but we know very well that every weekend starts from zero and we’ll have to push with the same intensity.
