Max Verstappen spoke to the press ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, the third round of the F1 World Championship.
This morning, through its official channels, Red Bull revealed its special white livery for the Japanese Grand Prix. The Anglo-Austrian team comes off a dominant three-year streak at the Japanese circuit, with Max Verstappen securing both victory and pole position in the last three editions, clinching his second World Championship in the 2022 race.
The Dutch driver, meanwhile, spoke to the press ahead of the third race of the season. He said: “Suzuka has always been a special circuit for me, full of history and unforgettable moments, like the Constructors’ Championship win in 2023 and my second Drivers’ title secured right here the year before. This race will have an even more special meaning, as it will be Yuki’s first race with the team in front of his home crowd, a special occasion but also a challenging task to welcome him to the team in the best way possible!
This week, we’ll be racing with a special Japanese livery as a tribute to Honda, and it looks incredible. My helmet will also follow the theme, inspired by this celebratory white livery. I can’t wait to spend time in Japan, relax a bit in Tokyo before the Showrun, and then focus on the race in Suzuka.”
The four-time World Champion then added: “Looking back at China, the performance in the second stint was much more promising, and we saw encouraging signs in our race pace. The team has worked hard to optimize performance, and this week I went back to the factory to fine-tune preparations in the simulator. Suzuka is a track I love: its high-speed corners make it unique, and it’s a circuit where we’re usually competitive. I hope we can extract the most from the car and achieve a good result this weekend.”
