Following the release of the Netflix series at the end of 2024, the Brazilian legend has captured the hearts of F1 fans—and beyond—even more deeply. However, Senna’s legacy is also being honored by the company that powered him to his World Championship victories: Honda.
The Japanese manufacturer, currently in its final year supplying Red Bull and Visa Racing Bulls before partnering with Aston Martin next season, was McLaren’s engine provider at the time. Yes, that very same McLaren of Senna and Prost. Now, Honda has reportedly launched an auction for parts of the legendary 1990 McLaren engine, an event certain to attract Senna enthusiasts and elite Formula 1 collectors alike.
Auction Details and the RA100E Engine Specifications
As reported by Motorsport.com, the auction will take place in August 2025 in the United States, during the prestigious Monterey Car Week. The engine in question, the RA100E, was a 3.5-liter V10 capable of revving beyond 13,000 RPM and delivering an impressive 700 horsepower—a record-breaking figure for Formula 1 in 1990.
Accompanying the announcement was an iconic image of Ayrton Senna in wet conditions, a reminder of his unmatched talent.
