Lewis Hamilton rallies ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, with the first free practices starting tonight.
Ferrari wants to turn the page after the first two outings that weren’t exactly successful. Lewis Hamilton’s first steps in Red have been bittersweet, as in China, he had the satisfaction of securing pole position and winning the sprint race, but was unable to replicate his Saturday performance on Sunday. The first modifications have already been made to the SF-25, but it is in Bahrain where Ferrari will have the new floor and additional aerodynamic updates.
The seven-time world champion, despite everything, has full confidence in the team and, during the usual weekend interviews, confirmed the potential of the car. Here are the words of the Englishman: “I have full confidence in the team, and I think we are heading in the right direction. Obviously, there’s a learning process underway, and I believe that we’ll see the results soon. This sport is all about the details, and those who don’t work in a team, no matter how experienced they may be in Formula 1, can’t understand the amount of things we have to focus on every weekend
When you change teams, everything becomes more complex. Personally, Australia wasn’t an easy race because it was the first time I was driving the SF-25 in the wet. In China, however, after a great Sprint, where I felt completely at ease from the Friday afternoon qualifying, we paid for a wrong set-up choice made together with the team, which penalized both me and Charles.”
Lewis then added, delving into the race pace issue: “On Sunday, I struggled more than him, partly because, in fact, the race was my first true long run since in Bahrain we had to abandon the race simulation due to an issue, and it was also the first time I was driving with the C2 compound. Honestly, I’m quite happy with how I’m adapting, and I think we’re doing well. We need to stay focused and keep working.”
