The Federation has summoned two teams — Aston Martin and Ferrari — to the stewards: here’s the reason behind the decision and the potential consequences.
A surprise twist at Suzuka following Free Practice 2: according to paddock sources, Ferrari and Aston Martin are under FIA scrutiny for allegedly breaching the new pit lane overtake regulations introduced specifically for this weekend.

What the updated FIA regulation says
The updated FIA directive states: “Once a car has left its garage or pit box, it must join the fast lane as soon as it is safe to do so and without unnecessarily impeding cars already in the fast lane.”
It continues: “Cars may not overtake other cars in the fast lane, except under exceptional circumstances” (such as a clear mechanical issue).

And that’s where the controversy began: footage and telemetry reportedly show questionable maneuvers by both teams, including overtakes in the fast lane and potential obstruction of other cars exiting the pits. If confirmed, this could result in official reprimands or even fines for both teams.
As of now, no penalties have been issued — but all updates on the case are available on our app. In any case, no grid penalties are expected.
UPDATE: Here’s the FIA’s verdict
12:15 – In an official statement, the FIA has issued a warning to both Ferrari and Aston Martin, as well as to Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll. No penalties have been handed out.
