The six-time world champion is still in the process of recovering from the injury sustained during the WorldSBK tests: he will also miss the Dutch round.

It has been a very unlucky start to the season for the British rider: after missing the first two rounds, Jonathan Rea will also be absent from Assen. The reason lies in a fracture to his left foot, which he sustained after a fall coming out of the Southern Loop on the first day of testing in Australia.

The Dutch circuit is one of the tracks where the Yamaha rider has achieved the most success in recent WorldSBK seasons, but as confirmed by the team itself: “After a consultation with his medical staff earlier this week, we announce that Jonathan Rea will not participate in the third round at the TT Circuit Assen. He will once again be replaced by Jason O’Halloran in the Pata Maxus Yamaha Team.”

Jonathan Rea’s words

On his Instagram page, the number 65 of the World Championship wrote: “Although everything is progressing in the right direction and my recovery is ahead of schedule, unfortunately, I will still have to miss Assen next weekend.”

“Although I’m disappointed to miss such a strong circuit for us, I will continue to work with my team to return to the track 100%. Thank you all for the messages of support I’ve received over the past few weeks!”
