Ferrari, Hamilton’s anonymous race: “At the moment, we don’t have the pace of the other teams.”

Seventh place for Lewis Hamilton, who couldn’t make a comeback. Here are the words of the seven-time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton finished the Japanese Grand Prix in seventh place, after a rather anonymous race without many highlights. The seven-time world champion had a completely different strategy compared to the others, starting on hard tires, but the gamble didn’t pay off, leaving the Brit over ten seconds behind Antonelli’s Mercedes, who had an outstanding race.

After the Japanese Grand Prix, here are Lewis’ statements. Hamilton said: “The car was quite good in the race, although nothing spectacular: we’re missing a bit of knowledge about some components. I still need to work to improve. We’re not the fastest team at the moment, so there’s work to do.”

Hamilton then added: “I tried something different by starting on the hard tire, and I gained a position. Overall, it was a solid race, but we didn’t have the pace of the others. I wasn’t expecting much more on the medium tires, because compared to Leclerc, I was missing a bit of performance. Qualifying here, as we know, is very important, but even if I had qualified ahead of one of the Mercedes yesterday, I think they would have passed me because they had much more pace.”
