A tremendous effort from Jack Doohan today in Suzuka, as his future in Alpine hangs in the balance: here’s the video of his struggle.
Chilling images at the end of the Japanese Grand Prix: Jack Doohan, Mick’s son and currently in a tough situation at Alpine (put at serious risk by Flavio Briatore’s decisions), finished the race visibly exhausted.
The cause? The heavy impact suffered during Friday’s FP2, when he had a terrifying crash. Despite the pain and exhaustion, Doohan managed to finish the race in P15, but his performance was clearly affected by the crash that left him drained.
Helping him was none other than the former team leader of the French outfit, Esteban Ocon, who showed great team spirit and solidarity. The French driver didn’t hesitate to assist his replacement at Alpine, helping him out of the car and trying to lift him when it was evident that his strength was completely spent.

Let’s remember that during Friday’s practice sessions, Doohan had a terrifying crash, going off track at over 330 km/h, an impact that nearly compromised his participation for the rest of the weekend and cast doubt on his future in Formula 1.
Although he narrowly avoided the worst, the crash could have repercussions for his career: the severity of the incident seems to have brought Franco Colapinto’s name even closer, while Doohan’s position at Alpine now appears more uncertain than ever.
