The Ferrari wants to get back on track, Vasseur: “We will work on the balance, the situation is similar to last year.”

Frederic Vasseur commented on Ferrari’s start to the season, which has been well below expectations, with a crucial race in Bahrain on Sunday.

Ferrari arrives in Bahrain with many doubts and few certainties, possibly none. The doubts start with the updates, as recent rumors suggest there are discussions in Maranello about whether to bring the new package to the next Grand Prix or to wait, preferring to focus on the car’s balance instead. Bahrain will, however, be a crucial crossroads to understand the ambitions of the SF-25.

On the matter, Frederic Vasseur was asked, and despite the results not being up to par, he calls for calm and looks to the next Grand Prix with confidence. Here are the Frenchman’s words: “The fact that the fourth race of the season is taking place in Bahrain gives us the opportunity to measure the progress we have made in managing the SF-25 compared to the tests a month and a half ago. We know that we still lack performance to be able to fight with McLaren, and we believe that we need to make progress especially in terms of optimizing the car’s balance.

This is the aspect we will focus on in Sakhir, also with the support of those working at the Maranello factory. We need to pay attention to every detail of the weekend, knowing that even just a tenth of a gain could mean being ahead of some of our rivals both on Saturday in qualifying and Sunday in the race.”

The Frenchman then added: “I’m used to it because the last two years we started like this. It’s definitely not ideal, and I’d prefer to win the first race. But we shouldn’t change our approach from last year because we’re almost in the same situation, maybe a little worse in terms of pace, and the team’s reaction has been very, very strong. We’ve worked as a team, taken small steps forward, and we need to keep the exact same approach, but it’s definitely not ideal.”
